Nancy AND NEAL Solomonson
Pastor Nancy was raised on a farm near Bricelyn, MN. She graduated from Bricelyn High School and Mankato State University (now MN State University) with a degree in Accounting. Nancy passed the Certified Public Accounting exam, and worked at several accounting firms as well as being the accountant for a public utility. While living in Andrew, IA Nancy attended and graduated from Wartburg Seminary in 2002. She was called to serve Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, MN and was ordained there March 2nd, 2003. Nancy is happy to begin her call with Hauge Lutheran Church and St. John’s Lutheran Church August 1, and praying for the Spirit’s blessing upon both congregations during her service. Pastor Neal was raised on a farm near Lake Mills, IA. He graduated from Lake Mills High School, Waldorf College, and Iowa State University (with a degree in Agricultural Business) and then farmed for seven years before going to Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. After being ordained in 1986 Neal served congregations in Stanhope, IA, Garnavillo, IA, and Andrew, IA. In 2003 Neal accepted a call to serve First Presbyterian Church in LeRoy, MN – the church he continues to serve, while he continues his membership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America.
Neal and Nancy moved with their dog Andy and their cat Peppy to their home at 2181 190th Avenue, Decorah in November 2008. They enjoy gardening, biking, and walking, as well as getting to know their new neighbors.
Nursing Homes: Pastor Gene regularly visited the area nursing homes, and conducted worship services at Aase Haugen Homes and at Wellington Place on every first Sunday and second Wednesday with assistance from members of both Hauge and St. John's Lutheran. This ministry will continue, and there is great need for young people to come alongside and to assist in this important ministry.
Women's Ministry: Hauge women meet regularly in homes for prayer, study, and fellowship, and often to plan and provide leadership for special events.
Transportation: Drivers who are willing to provide rides to church for the elderly, injured, or otherwise unable to drive, and for college students without cars, can leave contact information at the church or at the link below. Likewise, if you need a ride, please call us, or send a message via the following HLC link.
