Historic, rural, native limestone, Lutheran church in its second century of proclaiming the Good News of Christ Jesus to folks living among the beautiful hills of Northeast Iowa and Southeast Minnesota.
We invite your organization to
consider visiting Iowa, particularly our unforgettable little corner.
We are within a few mile radius of:
The Laura Ingalls Wilder Park & Museum in Burr Oak, which is the only childhood home of Laura Ingalls Wilder remaining on its original site.
The Seed Savers Exchange Heritage Farm & Orchard, often featured on such programs as Public Television's "Victory Garden".
Willowglen Nursery, a perennial favorite stop for garden clubs, florists, and landscapers.
The Winneshiek Wildberry Winery and Vineyard.
Craft's at Bluffton, home farm of the famous Jacob sheep and guard donkeys in arguably the most scenic place in Iowa.
We are just eight miles north of Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, the largest ethnic museum in America.
And, we are an additional 10 miles from the Anton Dvorak Exhibit and Bily Brothers Clock Museum in Spillville, Iowa home of the famous American Pioneer History clock for which Henry Ford
offered a million dollars during the Great Depression.
HAUGE LUTHERAN CHURCH:
The story of our church and cemetery reflects the history of Scandinavian immigration to America, and of rural Iowa. Tours of the church and cemetery can be adjusted to your group, but should allow about an hour. We are handicapped-accessible, and provide a beautiful setting for rest and contemplation. There is no charge for our tours, but we appreciate free-will gifts to maintain the facilities, and we do ask that you schedule ahead.
Centennial souvenirs are available at the
church. (click here)
We will provide fresh fruit, rolls and coffee for a small fee if
you would like this.
Tours are given Monday through Saturday by
arrangement. Sunday Services during summer months are at 10:30 a.m., and we welcome you to attend. We do ask, though, that you notify us so that sufficient
bulletins will be available, and we can arrange a short tour either
before or after the worship service.
Notice: Hauge Church is 100% handicapped accessible
